DataPilot – Usage Monitor Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how DataPilot – Usage Monitor (“the App”) handles your information.
The App helps you monitor mobile and Wi‑Fi data usage, view per-app usage, check network speed, set data limits, receive usage alerts, and use home screen widgets. Most information is processed and stored on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your personal information.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Summary
- Usage data and settings are stored on your device.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics).
- “Analytics” in the App means on-device charts and summaries—not third-party web tracking.
- Data may leave your device only if you export or share reports, run a speed test, use network diagnostics, or if your device backup includes app data.
Information we process
On your device, the App may process:
- Data usage statistics (total, mobile, and Wi‑Fi) by day, week, month, year, or a custom range you choose
- Per-app usage (app names, package names, and usage amounts) when you grant Usage access in Android settings
- Network and connection information (such as Wi‑Fi or mobile, connection status, and carrier name when the system provides it)
- Speed information and speed test results when you run a test
- Hotspot-related usage estimates (accuracy may vary by device; dedicated hotspot data may not always be available from the system)
- Usage limits you set and local alert history
- App settings (theme, refresh interval, notifications, monitoring on/off, and similar preferences)
- Cached values for home screen widgets
We do not, through the App itself:
- Require you to create an account
- Collect your name, email, or phone number in the App
- Use third-party ad or behavioral analytics services
- Upload your usage history to our servers for marketing during normal use
Permissions
The App may request access only to provide its features:
- Usage access — Per-app and detailed data usage (required for app-level tracking)
- Installed apps — To show which apps used data
- Notifications — Live monitoring updates and usage alerts (optional)
- Network / Wi‑Fi — Connection type and monitoring support
- Background monitoring — Foreground service when monitoring is enabled
- Start at boot — Restart monitoring after reboot if you enabled it
- Phone state (if shown on your device) — Limited network or carrier info only; not calls, SMS, or contacts
- Storage (older Android only) — Export reports on Android 9 and below
- Internet — Only when you run a speed test or similar online feature
You can change or revoke permissions in Android settings. Some features need Usage access to work.
How data is stored
- Usage and history are stored in a local database on your device
- Settings are stored in local app storage
- Export files (CSV or PDF) are created when you export and shared only when you choose
We do not run a central cloud database of your usage data for normal App operation.
When data may leave your device
- You share an export — via email, cloud storage, or other apps you select
- You run a speed test — the App connects to a test provider (for example, Cloudflare) only for that test
- You use network or DNS diagnostics — queries go to the servers used in the test
- Device backup — if enabled on your phone (for example, Google Backup)
Otherwise, we do not send your usage history to our servers during normal use.
Legal bases (EEA / UK)
Where applicable, we rely on: providing the App (contract), operating the App on your device (legitimate interests), and your consent for optional permissions (which you can withdraw in settings).
Data retention
Data stays on your device until you clear app data, uninstall the App, or reset data in the App. Export files in cache may be deleted when you clear cache. We do not keep a copy on our servers.
Security
We use reasonable measures for a local Android app (private app storage, sharing only when you initiate it). No system is perfectly secure—use a screen lock and keep your device updated.
Children
The App is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s information through the App. Contact us if you have concerns.
Your choices
You can turn off monitoring, revoke permissions, clear app storage, or uninstall the App to remove local data.

Third-party services
The App may interact with Google/Android (Play, system, backup), speed test providers when you run a test, and apps you choose when sharing exports. Those services have their own privacy policies.
International use
Your data stays on your device unless you share it or use online test features as described above.
Changes
We may update this policy and change the “Last updated” date. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
